Join Us in Congratulating Our Vice President, Marty Rivers

He Was Presented with the Denton Chamber of Commerce’s Highest Honor

First State Bank would like to congratulate our Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer, Marty Rivers, on accepting the esteemed Otis L. Fowler Award this year for his exceptional business accomplishments in Denton.

Since 1959, the Otis L. Fowler Award has been presented at the Denton Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Membership Meeting to one outstanding citizen who has contributed “to the progress and welfare of the community” with distinguished business accomplishments. Thursday, March 23, 2017 marked the 108th Annual Membership Meeting, and the tradition of recognizing professional leadership continued. This honor has been deemed the highest and most prestigious award given by the Chamber each year. Otis L. Fowler (1886-1968) was the first paid manager of the Denton Chamber of Commerce. During the 30 years he held this position, he was a pillar in the Denton community, exemplifying what leadership looks like.

We are proud to have Marty Rivers as part of our First State Bank family. He has played a key role at First State Bank since 2002 when he started out as the Branch President of our Downtown Denton location. In addition to his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer, he serves on the Board of Directors for the bank and for the Independent Bankers Association of Texas.

Marty also volunteers his time with many different organizations in our community. He has served as Chairman of the Board for the City of Denton’s Economic Development Partnership, for United Way of Denton County and for the Denton Chamber of Commerce.

As his service to Denton in these many roles suggests, Marty is deserving of the celebration he has received. First State Bank understands that giving back to the city we call home is the best way to show our gratitude and express just how much community means to us.

Congratulations to Marty Rivers, and thank you to those individuals, past and present, who have contributed to making our city a great place to live and work!
